1. Getting to know your Device and Charging Base

Device

  • The Lanyard can be used to wear the W1 around your neck as a normal pendant.
  • The SOS Button is used to trigger a SOS by being held down for 3 seconds. This will start the Responder call sequence and raise a SOS text alert. Also used for cancelling a SOS.
  • Cellular Signal Indicator (Green Light) will flash when the device has phone signal
  • Positioning Indicator (Blue Light) will flash when the device is locating a position
  • Power indicator (Red Light) will stay on when the device is fully charged, will blink slowing while charging, or will blink quickly when battery level is low
  • The Call button can be used for the Device to call the lead Responder only. This will not call all Responders like a SOS, or will not send a SOS text alert. It will only call the lead Responder.
  • Silent mode button will activate/cancel voice prompts. Your default settings will have voice prompts switched on and we recommend this remains as so.
  • Charging points are used to connect the Device to the Charging Base, or alternatively to the magnetic charging lead supplied.
  • See watchie.com/user-guide for further information and video demonstrations

Charging Base

  • The Call button can be used to have the same effect of pressing the Call button on the Device itself.
  • The SOS button on the Charging Base can be used to have the same effect of pressing the SOS button on the Device itself.
  • Voice prompt ON/OFF button will activate/deactivate the voice prompts from your Charging Base. These voice prompts mirror the voice prompts from the Device, so the Charging Station will indicate when a SOS was raised, or when a Device is charging.
  • *The Device and the Charging Base are linked together by Bluetooth. The Charging Base uses the network connectivity of the Device to make calls. If the Device is in a separate location to the Charging Base, the Charging Base will have reduced capability for communication.

2. Assign your Watchie® W1 a name

If you have decided ‘Ann Smith’ will be wearing the Watchie® W1, text ASSIGN ANN SMITH to your Watchie® Service Centre. As with all text commands, capital letters are not necessary, just a space between ASSIGN and the name you choose.

From then your Watchie® W1 Device will be displayed as ANN SMITH on your SOS text alerts.

Next, in your phone contacts, save the unique Watchie® W1 telephone number you were sent after Activating your Device as something you can easily recognize the wearer by, for example ANN SMITH or ANN SMITH WATCHIE

This number will be used/displayed for incoming and outgoing calls to and from your Watchie® from then on.

Calling ANN SMITH from then on will patch you through directly to your Watchie® W1. The Device will ring on loud volume notifying ANN SMITH there is an incoming call and then automatically answer. The wearer does not need to press anything to answer the call. To hang up a call, ANN SMITH simply clicks the SOS button on the Device once, or you terminate the call yourself from your phone as with a normal call.

3. Adding SOS Responders

In case you’re not available to answer a SOS alert, it’s useful to have a second or third responder on stand by. As lead Responder of your Device, you will choose who this can be. Once you’ve invited them to become a Responder, your Watchie® Service Centre will contact them for you. When they’ve accepted to become your Responder, they will receive all the SOS alerts and calls from your Device, and be able to call your Device also. As lead Responder, you can remove them at any time.

How to Add Responders

Text ADD followed by the number of your contact to your Watchie® Service Centre. You’ll need their mobile number. For example, text ADD 086 1234567

Your Watchie® Service Centre will take it from here and notify them that you wish them to become a SOS Responder for ANN SMITH. They will be brought through the registration steps as you were, after which they will have the option to ACCEPT or DECLINE the Responder invite.

Once accepted they will receive all SOS alerts and calls.
You can add up to 3 additional Responders to a Device, simply repeat the process.

You can check your active Responder group at any time by texting RESPONDERS to your Watchie® Service Centre. Your Responders will be displayed in the order they were added, and will be notified in the event of a SOS in rotation in this same order.

  • The incoming call will be displayed by the unique Watchie® phone number of the Device, or by name you have saved it as in your phone contacts.

  • This SOS call sequence can only be stopped by the wearer of the Device. During the SOS call sequence, the Device will remind the wearer at intervals between calls that they can stop the call sequence. When they hear this voice prompt, the wearer can stop the call sequence by simply clicking the SOS button once.
